Black Powder Review
MRI Black Power Quick Look
Aptly called Black Powder, this pre-workout supplement hits you like a gun – fast and hard. Black Powder fires up your metabolism, accelerates nutrient absorption into your body, and boosts nitric oxide levels.
If you’ve been taking workout supplements for some time now, you know that nitric oxide is the key to gaining muscle size. Nitric oxide dilates your blood vessels to speed up the delivery of performance and recovery nutrients to your muscle cells. Black Powder promises to increase nitric oxide levels by 950% right after taking your first serving!
What’s so unique about Black Powder is its ability to increase your nitric oxide limit with its NOS up-regulating whey “peptide fraction” ACTINOS2IR, delivered using a proprietary Instant Release (IR) technology. The sudden surge in nitric oxide allows your body to take advantage of Black Powder’s powerful nutrient complex in an instant blast – which leads to super-dilated skin-ripping pumps!
Black Powder is conveniently packed in single-serving sizes so you can easily throw in a few sticks into your gym bag and mix it wherever you are training.
Black Powder has been named 2009 New Supplement of The Year by Bodybuilding.com.

MRI Black Powder Results
As you down your first dose of Black Powder, you feel like your muscles are about to explode. A sudden blast of energy makes you want to take on each set with vicious intensity. Weights seem lighter, laps seem shorter, hurdles seem lower, and your stopwatch seems to click too soon.
Black Powder users feel a sharper focus and nonstop supercharged energy for several hours. Elevated nitric oxide levels allow your muscles to recover quickly so you’re almost always ready to attack the next set.
Beta alanine, potassium bicarbonate, and sodium bicarbonate in Black Powder improves muscle stamina and endurance. Creatine increases the power output and load capacity of your muscle fibers, and phosphates feed your body’s continual recycling of ATP.
Black Powder is loaded with B vitamins and raw muscle fuel such as MCTs and malic acid so your energy metabolism remains efficient and steady throughout your workout. You’ll still feel pumped as you leave the gym!
MRI Black Powder Side Effects
Three key elements in Black Powder can be potential sources of negative side effects. These are caffeine, magnesium, and overproduction of nitric oxide.
Black Powder contains approximately 200mg of caffeine per scoop, or about the equivalent of two cups of your favorite brew. If you have a high sensitivity to caffeine, you may experience heart palpitations, dizziness, nervousness and irritability. Taking Black Powder too close to your bedtime can also make it difficult to sleep.
Magnesium oxide in Black Powder can lead to more trips to the bathroom because of its laxative effect. Some users complain of an upset stomach and cases of diarrhea before or even during their workouts.
As nitric oxide dilates the blood vessels, your blood pressure can drop. Nitric oxide pumps your muscles with blood during intense training, and some athletes occasionally experience lightheadedness because of this. Be careful not to cut yourself because you may bleed more than usual due to the increase in blood flow.
Although it is highly recommended to take Black Powder on an empty stomach for maximum nitric oxide effects, the lack of a pre-workout meal or consuming a poorly selected diet can cause vomiting. You can prevent this by eating fast-digesting protein and slow-digesting carbohydrates an hour before you start your workout.

MRI Black Powder Directions
Mix a scoop of Black Powder in 8 to 16 ounces of cold water with a spoon. Adjust the amount of water to your desired consistency and flavor.
Note that this pre-workout drink is carbonated and can produce an effervescent effect when stirred in a blender or shaker.
Use Black Powder on training days only. For best results, consume a serving on an empty stomach around 30 minutes before your workout.
Your body may start building up a tolerance to Black Powder after around 3 weeks. Cycle off for a month to give your body enough time to get used to not taking stimulants. When you get back on later, your body will experience the same initial shock you had the first time you took Black Powder.
To sustain your improved nitric oxide levels throughout the day, you can stack Black Powder with NO2 Black.
Do not take more than 3 scoops of Black Powder within a 24-hour period and do not take within 4 hours of your bedtime.
MRI Black Powder Flavors and Taste
Black Powder is available in Grape Force, Blue Raspberry, Fruit Explosion, and Orange Burst flavors.
Unlike most pre-workout supplements, Black Powder has consistently gotten good reviews for its taste. The orange flavor is definitely the crowd favorite, with the blue raspberry a close second.
Users also love that Black Powder dissolves easily without a blender or shaker and that the consistency is not too think unlike other pre-workout drinks that take forever to gulp down.
Black Powder was created by Medical Research Institute (MRI), a recognized leader in nutraceutical science.
Founded by Ed Byrd in 1996, MRI utilizes cutting edge controlled released technology to research and develop innovative natural supplements for high performance athletes, fitness enthusiasts, and health conscious consumers.
In addition to Black Powder, MRI developed NO2 – the first and only oral dietary supplement that combines the advantages of controlled release technology with nitric oxide infusion.
MRI holds 3 US patents for its Glucotize supplement, the first and only controlled release alpha lipoic acid.
MRI Black Powder Conclusion
There has never been a pre-workout supplement with so many mixed reviews as Black Powder does. While it is natural for every product to receive both positive and negative reviews, the disparity in Black Powder feedback can be perplexing.
Some people say they felt skyrocketing energy and experienced great pumps after their very first serving, yet some argue that all they got out of Black Powder was a bad crash and a dent on their wallet.
For every user who claims to have improved his bench press performance with Black Powder is another user who feels disappointed with the temporary rush and lack of muscle or strength gain.
One consistent positive, though, is the brilliant packaging. Black Powder comes in single-serving sticks that you can easily slip into your gym bag. Mix it when you get to the gym so you don’t have to carry a full bottle around – convenience at its best!
As the old proverb goes, the proof of the pudding is in the eating. The only way to find out if Black Powder works for you is to try it and see the results for yourself.
